Children's teeth

Here at Borrowash Dental Centre we are a very child-friendly practice, and aim to help reduce their anxieties surrounding the dentist at a young age, by bringing them as soon as they get their first teeth through. Children's teeth are also known as our deciduous teeth, which are our first set of teeth. The first of these begin erupting at around the age of 8 months, followed gradually by the rest of the set. It is important to protect your child's teeth as although they will be replaced, they serve a large purpose up until then. Make sure that you are supervising or helping your child to brush twice a day for 2 minutes, using the appropriate fluoride toothpaste based on their age. The fluoride within their toothpaste will help to strengthen their enamel and protect their teeth.

children's dental appointments

It is important to get your child used their Dentist and the environment from a young age so that they become used to the environment. At a young age their appointment may only consist of the child opening their mouth, so their present teeth can be recorded. As they get older and their permanent molars erupt,  a fluoride varnish is likely to be placed on the surface to prevent decay.

Dental appointments are also very useful for dietary advice on how to reduce the sugars in your child's routine.
