Sensitive teeth can cause serious problems when it comes to eating, drinking and even opening our mouth, causing pain and discomfort. Sensitivity occurs when our enamel is damaged, which reveals the inner layer of the tooth called dentine. This can happen due to :

  • over-brushing the teeth

  • tooth erosion due to acidic food and drinks

  • teeth grinding causing the tooth to become worn

  • tooth decay or broken teeth

  • dental cleans or treatment 


Sensitivity often causes pain due to the following stimuli:

  • hot foods and beverages 

  • cold food and beverages 

  • cold air 

  • sweet or sour

  • to touch
